Jane Bryant, a former registered nurse, grew up in the Mountains. She attended Ellison Public School and Blue Mountains Grammar.
She studied nursing at the Western Sydney University and then went on to work as a registered theatre nurse at St Vincents Private Hospital in Darlinghurst.
She had an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors – everything from skiing all over the world to returning home to explore the Blue Mountains.
In August 2015, Jane was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. Despite fighting the disease for more than two years, she died on June 14, 2018.
After being diagnosed, Jane became a strong and vocal supporter of breast cancer research.
She dedicated a lot of her time to assisting the Garvan Institute of Medical Research by giving interviews and helping with many fundraising events.
She married Cameron Bryant on June 2, 2017. She had many precious experiences and adventures over the next year.
After her death, an enormous wake at the Fairmont in Leura helped to raise more than $40,000 for breast cancer research.
The Bryant and Wiggers de Vries families wanted to publicly thank everybody for sending their kind wishes, prayers, thoughts and flowers over the past four months.
They particularly wanted to thank all those who donated to the Garvan Institute in her memory.
Jane is loved and missed by all who knew her.
