Squash will continue to be played at Springwood Country Club.
Earlier this year, the country club had been considering turning the squash courts into a gym. But an agreement has been reached between the board and Springwood Squash Club guaranteeing the squash courts will stay for the next three to five years.
Springwood Squash Club president Terry McDonald said it was a great outcome, and the work put in by the new general manager Josh Prowse was appreciated.
“The squash fraternity are very happy and relieved to be able to continue playing and growing the sport we all love in the Mountains for many years to come,” he said.
Fees will increase from January, but Mr McDonald said this was “a fair result for both parties.”
“The squash club will be forming a committee to meet with the country club on a regular basis to keep communication channels open and make sure we stay on track to meet our revenue targets,” Mr McDonald said.
