Lapstone Primary School pupils are hard at work preparing personal Christmas cards for some 140 guests at Lower Blue Mountains Rotary’s “Young at Heart” Christmas party on Saturday, December 8.
Rotary Club spokesperson John Keogh announced details for what will be Rotary’s 25th annual party this week.
Guests come from senior citizens who live independently in their own homes (40 per cent), in aged care facilities (35 per cent), or in retirement villages (25 per cent).
Rotary club members spring into action each year and run a personalised chauffeur service to and from the various homes and villages. Aged guests are carefully escorted in and out of the Emu Plains Sports Club venue.
The Emu Plains Sports Club supports the Rotary Club and the Christmas party each year with a discounted price for the delicious three course Christmas dinner.
Lapstone Primary pupils start work on the cards three or four weeks before the big event and, when the guest list is finalised, they add names to each card to ensure a delightful personal touch.
Rotary’s Mr and Mrs Claus attend the party each year to present a small gift to each guest.
Musical entertainment is always top class with appearance by the Ex Gracia a capella choir and the Blue Mountains Concert band.
