Lower Blue Mountains Rotary will donate proceeds from its final charity movie night for 2018 to Gateway Family Services’ food hamper program for needy families.
Scheduled for Monday, December 10, the movie screening will be The Old Man and the Gun – reported to be the final movie in the glittering career of legendary star Robert Redford.
The movie is based on the true story of Forest Tucker (Robert Redford) from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of hoists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest’s commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession.
The Rotary Club organising committee plans to make the night a special Christmas Party “thank you” for the hundreds of residents who have supported the movie nights during the year.
For the same low price of just $20, patrons will enjoy Christmas party finger food and liquid refreshments from 6.30pm. Please note, the food is light finger food only and not meant to take the place of an evening meal.
Twenty special Christmas prizes will be on offer via the usual raffle – along with prizes for the best Christmas outfit/hat/apron.
Cinema seating will commence at 7.30 pm with the movie at 7.45 pm.
Bookings ca be made with Gaye Van Der Meer on 0430 433 717 – or via the LBM Rotary Service account – BSB: 062 640 Acc #: 00901 789 – or by way of special cash payment arrangement.
Rotary President Michelle Fisher expressed the club’s gratitude to Glenbrook Cinema proprietor Ron Curran for again making all seats available at special discount prices to the Rotary Club – thus ensuring a profit for the chosen charity.
