Tom Domican is suing nightclub boss John Ibrahim for defamation over what he wrote in his memoir.
A memoir by nightclub boss John Ibrahim does not portray Sydney identity Tom Domican as being a violent criminal now but rather one in the past, the Federal Court has been told.
Mr Ibrahim's lawyer Dauid Sibtain also referred to a 1984 British documentary in which Mr Domican was asked about Labor Party branch stacking and replied: "Yes, we visited them and had a little chat with them" before smiling.
Mr Domican is suing Mr Ibrahim and publisher Pan Macmillan Australia for defamation, claiming the book Last King of the Cross portrays him as a violent criminal, drug dealer and someone willing to be hired to kill people.
