The weekend brought a brief respite but the hot weather is coming back, with 30-plus temperatures forecast for Katoomba from tomorrow, peaking at 35 on Friday and Sunday.
Last week’s incredible hot spell saw temperatures at Mt Boyce, at the top of the Mountains, soar above 35 degrees for four days in a row.
Salvation came on Saturday (26 degrees) and Sunday (24).
In the first 20 days of January, half were above 30 degrees, according to data recorded at Mt Boyce.
At Blackheath pool last Friday, it was still 34 degrees at 5.30pm, ensuring a big crowd for a showing of the movie, Moana.
While some pitched tents or sheltered under umbrellas, many youngsters simply stayed in the pool and watched.
