The Blue Mountains Concert Society’s 2019 season presents a range of classical talent.
The season opens on Saturday, February 9, with the award-winning Italian piano duo, Spina-Benignetti, with music from Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Schubert and Rachmaninov.
On Sunday, April 28, The Sydney Consort performs a collection of rare baroque music on period instruments. Their performance features Bach father and sons and music from Ireland and Scotland - rhythmic jigs, sorrow and charismatic harmony performed with fiddle, flute and harp.
On Sunday, June 16, Simon Tedeschi, described as one of the world’s finest pianists, joins Orava Quartet to present an engaging and thrilling piano and strings performance.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship performs on Saturday, August 10; on September 29, oboeist Diana Doherty is joined by Alexandre Oguey, principal cor anglais of the SSO and well known pianist, Bernadette Harvey, in a program of J. S. Bach, Morricone and Brahms.
The Sydney Chamber Choir, conducted by Sam Allchurch, completes the series on Saturday, November 9, performing “Time and Place” - a journey around the world.
Ticket sales for the 2019 concert series have opened. Early bird prices are available until February 28. Free entrance is offered to school aged children accompanied by a parent to encourage young musicians to enjoy these world class concerts.
All concerts are held at the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub, Macquarie Road, Springwood. This year, three concerts will be held on Saturday nights and three on Sunday afternoons.
