A Labor government in NSW would negotiate to buy land at Radiata Plateau to add to the Blue Mountains National Park.
And the Liberal government has undertaken to review the ecological merits of acquiring the plateau, if it is on the market.
Penny Sharpe, deputy Opposition leader, visited the plateau in heavy mist on Friday to announce that Labor will negotiate to buy the last remaining undeveloped peninsula-plateau in the Upper Mountains.
The previous week, Environment Minister, Gabrielle Upton, also visited the area and promised that her department would review a proposal to get the land into public hands.
Madi Maclean, president of the Conservation Society, said the society was "thrilled" with Labor's promise.
"“We believe Radiata Plateau, home to threatened species and unique vegetation communities, is a critical addition to the Blue Mountains National Park,” she said. "“It’s the last undeveloped section of the southern escarpment, with outstanding scenic values."
