On Sunday, April 7, Australia's only Russian folk orchestra, the Sydney Balalaika Orchestra, will play an enchanting afternoon capturing the essence, magic and mystery of Russia.
The internationally acclaimed Sydney Balalaika Orchestra is a 28-piece Russian folk orchestra.
Under the direction of Victor Serghie, the orchestra has long been renowned amongst concert-goers for its sublime performances. A talented and meticulous arranger, Victor Serghie creates intricate and beautiful arrangements of authentic Russian folk tunes and other melodies, the essence of which is imbued in the heart and soul of Russia.
Dressed in stunning Russian costumes and accompanied by their wonderful vocalist, the Sydney Balalaika Orchestra perform on traditional folk instruments including balalaika, bayan, domra and cimbalom.
With themes of the countryside, trees, rivers, lakes and, of course, love, the concert repertoire includes the popular fiery work Sabre Dance, In The Village, Concerto for Cimbalom and a stunning new arrangement of From Russia With Love.
