The stories which weave the threads of a community together are powerful and important because they shape lives.
Wycliffe Christian School is excited about seeing learning across classrooms which can be described with a beautiful variety of adjectives such as engaged, challenging, stretching, switched on, real, and deep, through to active, vibrant, connected, fun and fascinating.
Each day, staff and students are thankful for seeing God in action in their midst, believing it is God who gives the foundation for learning which enables students to flourish, make the most of their talents and become who they are called to be.
Here are some of the school's stories:
Engagement
A junior school newspaper and a diverse range of Stage 5 electives are two of Wycliffe Christian School's current learning highlights.
A group of Stage 3 students have initiated creating a newspaper and are eagerly interviewing staff and students to create a range of feature stories and articles.
In Year 9 and 10 students in the 'Build it Break it!' elective are wrestling with engineering techniques in an attempt to construct the unbreakable bridge.
Meanwhile, in History Extension, students are preparing creative presentations about an area of history which they are passionate about.
Tailored journeys
Tailored learning which meets the needs and desires of individual students is also an exciting endeavour.
This year, this has included beginning Agriculture in Stage 6 and supporting several Year 10 students to undertake school-based apprenticeship programs.
Celebrating futures
Combining all these learning activities, in a celebration of students, sees them experience successful and positive learning progress.
These moments begin in pre-school (where the thrill of discovery is a daily occurrence) and continue into junior school with "ah ha" moments in mathematics, and amazing discoveries about the intricacies of insects and the challenge of turning zucchini from the school's community garden into crispy noodles.
In senior school, students celebrate moments which include producing clever and intuitive major design projects or crafting rich writing in Extension English or captivating performances in Music.
Together these are some of the stories worth celebrating, as they highlight learning experiences that are creating a place of belonging and purpose in which Wycliffe Christian School students can flourish.
