When perfectly in tune, the powerful aspects of body, movement, timing, tempo and voice all enable an actor to deliver the ultimate stage performance. These critical elements of the actor's craft will be explored in the second Blackheath Theatre Company's theatre skills workshop, The Actor's Toolkit.
To be conducted by actor and writer Ralph Andrews on April 13 in the Blackheath Area Community Centre, the workshop will give participants an illuminating insight into the often-untapped resources an actor has at his or her disposal to enhance the style and pace of on-stage delivery.
Andrews has performed in leading theatrical roles in England and Australia, achieving best actor and best supporting actor awards in a career that includes performances with the Sydney Phoenix, Genesian, Riverside and Seymour Centre theatres.
In parallel with his onstage work over 30 years he has directed and facilitated workshops covering training.
This will be the second in a series of professional development workshops staged by the Blackheath Theatre Company as part of its ambitious three-year vision to establish a widely recognised centre of excellence for community theatre and by providing an avenue for personal growth in the primary theatrical arts.
Chris Watts, the BTC's professional development director, revealed the next workshop in the series will complement the actor's toolkit and deal with the art of developing characterisation as an important actor's attribute. See blackheaththeatrecompany.com.
