Blaxland sculptor, Anthony Xerri, has won the Award of Excellence Medallion for Sculpture at the Royal Easter Show for the second successive year.
Mr Xerri also won first prize in the abstract category for his piece, Flight, and second prize in the figurative class for Belligerent.
Mr Xerri trained in art at RMIT in Melbourne then did further study at La Trobe University in fine arts and literature.
He has been an English teacher and is currently a learning and support teacher at Jamison High. But he is ready to take the plunge into full-time art next year.
He is already working on his next piece - a horse - for the Woollahra Small Sculpture prize and hopes to create a work to enter in the Sculptures by the Sea exhibition.
He works in steel ("I love its pliability") in a double garage in his backyard.
"Thankfully the neighbours are tolerant of my grindings and hammering," he said.
Mr Xerri also does drawings, print-making and collages. His work can be seen at www.stealart.net.
