Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling and Ironfest are excited to announce the creation of the Lithgow Valley Cup, a cup to honour, celebrate and represent the Lithgow region.
This mini tournament to crown the first cup holder will take place on Saturday, April 27, and is open to a range of contenders including rookies, veterans and locals. Pro wrestlers from the Blue Mountains and Central West regions will converge on The Kingdown of Ironfest in The Shed for an opportunity not only to be the first Lithgow Valley cup holder, but also to receive a future Blue Mountains World Heritage title match.
Former Australian heavyweight champion and Bathurst local Shane 'Ace' Fenton will be on hand to referee the final and present the cup to victor.
Fenton said: "It's an honour to be invited back to Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling. I had the pleasure to present the belt back in 2014 and I am excited to be back in 2019 to present the Cup at Ironfest in Lithgow.
"I look forward to getting back into the ring to enforce the rules and manage the carnage that will no doubt occur."
Marek Indyka, one of the promoters of Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling and a former resident of Lithgow, said: "I'm excited to be bringing the first ever Lithgow Valley Cup to Ironfest. This is something locals from not only Lithgow but around the Central West and Blue Mountains can really get behind."
He added: "The cup will no doubt have a regional feel with wrestlers from Oberon, Bathurst, Katoomba, Penrith and Hawkesbury all competing. Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling will be holding matches on both April 27 and 28 in The Shed, matches start 11am, 1pm and 3pm. The Lithgow Valley Cup will be held on Saturday 27th."
