Glenbrook and Lapstone residents have the highest average taxable income of people in the Blue Mountains, according to the Australian Taxation Office's latest release on the average incomes for people across Australia.
The ATO data showed the wealthiest postcode in the Blue Mountains was 2773 - residents living in Glenbrook and Lapstone - with an average taxable income for the year 2016-17 of $69,854.
The neighouring 2774 postcode (Blaxland, Mount Riverview and Warrimoo) had an average taxable income of $60,752.
The biggest population centre in the Blue Mountains - the 2777 postcode of Valley Heights, Sun Valley, Springwood, Yellow Rock, Winmalee and Hawkesbury Heights - came in slightly lower at $59,210.
Faulconbridge residents (2776) had an average taxable income of $60,249 while Linden and Woodford residents (2778) had an average of $57,347.
Heading west, average taxable incomes were: Hazelbrook (2779) $53,537; Lawson (2783) $50,943; Bullaburra (2784) $52,575; and Wentworth Falls (2782) $56,138.
The villages of Leura, Katoomba and Medlow Bath - making up the 2780 postcode - dropped to an average taxable income of $48,973.
Average taxable incomes picked up at Blackheath (2785) at $52,128 before dropping again at Mount Victoria, Mount Wilson, Mount Irvine and Bell (2786) to $48,475, the lowest in the Blue Mountains.
The top-earning suburb in Australia for the 2016-17 financial year was 2108 covering Coasters Retreat and Palm Beach on Sydney's northern beaches with an average of $230,330.
The nation's lowest-earning postcode was 2308, covering Newcastle University and Callaghan, with an average taxable income of $20,589.
The ATO said professions with the highest income was surgeon, with a national average taxable income of $394,866.
Anaesthetists filled the second spot with an average income of $367,343 and internal medicine specialists came in third with an average income of $299,378.
