Little Shop of Horrors: Students Callam Cook as the dentist, Mila Fisher as Audrey and Aaron Thomas as Seymour in Katoomba High School's upcoming musical.

Showcasing students across years 7-12, drama teacher and musical director Brad McLeod says audiences are sure to enjoy this energetic and moving performance.

The show is centred on misfit Seymour, played by year 12 student Aaron Thomas, who slaves away in a florist store in downtown Skidrow. When he comes across a "strange and interesting plant" things get interesting for Seymour and his love interest Audrey, played by year 11 student Mila Fisher. Seymour's journey is riddled with complications as the man-eating plant Audrey II grows larger and more dominant.

The performance incorporates the very first cohort of entertainment students, a new senior subject that specialises in audio, lighting, staging and vision, and rewards students with a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.

Mr McLeod said students had been rehearsing every Tuesday after school and in their lunchtimes and recesses.

"The great thing about doing a major school production is watching the new friendships evolve across the school. It is certainly an experience that brings people together and a highlight that can be remembered for many years," Mr McLeod said.

"When students are excited about the characters and engaged with the story, you know it's going to be an enjoyable experience".

The musical will be performed at 6.30pm in the school auditorium on May 16 and 17. Tickets are $12 each via www.trybooking.com/BBPAG or at the door on the night (pending availability).
