The Stringy Bach Chamber Orchestra has come a long way in the decade since it was formed. In the beginning, many of the youngest were playing just on open strings; now, the youngest member is studying grade VII music.
The repertoire has also matured, and the concert at Glenbrook's magnificent St Finbars on Sunday, June 2, at 2pm, promises to be the group's most exciting yet.
In the first half, works from the Baroque era are presented, along with the first movement of Schubert's beautiful Rosamunde Quartet.
The second half will feature music from Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, followed by Arvo Part's hauntingly beautiful Cantus in Memoriam to Benjamin Britten.
Tickets: $20 family, $10 individual, $5 pensioners. Contact: Jenny 0402 406 117.
