A hotline is now open for those wanting to dob in a graffiti artist.
The community is invited to participate in the graffiti removal program by reporting any graffiti to the special hotline - 47 592 592.
The start of the hotline follows a successful get together of members of the Blue Mountains Graffiti Management Alliance who completed a training day in April with an expert in graffiti removal.
Adelaide-based John Rose, founder and developer of World's Best Graffiti Removal System had had 44 years in the industry, developing products to remove graffiti and paint from a myriad of surfaces.
These products are now used extensively throughout the word.
Mr Rose is passionate about what he does and that was imparted to all who attended the training, a spokeswoman for the Alliance said.
Members learnt many valuable graffiti removal techniques on the day, methods that will make their task easier and more successful, she added.
The cost to prevent and remediate graffiti vandalism is huge. NSW Sydney Trains spends about $34 million dollars per year while the cost to Blue Mountains City Council annually is more than $300,000.
The Blue Mountains has an alliance of several local teams of volunteers whose aim is to rid the Mountains of all graffiti. Their desire is to present the area as a safe and welcoming place to live and visit. They also hope that this will dissuade local younger generations from becoming involved in anti-social behaviour.
The teams aim to remove graffiti as soon as possible and photograph and report all graffiti to police. The community can call the special hotline - 47 592 592 or call Triple 0.
Blue Mountains neighbourhood centres have fridge magnets available with the hotline's number.
