Wentworth Falls artist Scott Baker has an exhibition coming up in Sydney at The Corner Gallery in Stanmore from June 13-25. Baker has had a number of exhibitions at The Depot Gallery at Danks Street (now closed) and his landscape work has been regularly shown in the Salon Des Refuses at the S H Ervin Gallery. His work is made mostly found timber (assemblage).
"This exhibition continues to explore the themes that have always been present in my work," he said. "There is the love of found materials with the work of time and the elements upon them. There is an attachment to place and a belief that beauty lurks in the mundane if you are open to and lucky enough to be able to seek it.
"I have been able to return repeatedly in my life to the same rural plains landscape. I have been able to work in and observe both its natural and disturbed nature and the works that have arisen from this are continuing notes to myself to try to pay attention."
