Hundreds of people packed the Wentworth Falls School of Arts on Friday night, June 7 to open bentART, Australia's largest LGBTQI annual visual arts exhibition.
Featuring emerging and professional artists, the exhibition celebrated its 15th annviersary this year.
More than $11,000 was awarded to artists across multiple mediums including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, smartphoneography and textiles. The judges, Lizzy Marshall and Dr Sanne Mestrom, selected 14 prize winning works from the 141 pieces entered.
The overall winner was photographer Sue Lightfoot for her work titled By Choice, a prize worth $2000. This was the first time in the history of bentART that a photograph won the overall winner award.
BentART is a celebration of LGBTQI+ artists from the Blue Mountains and across Australia and is held annually at the Wentworth Falls School of arts over the June Long Weekend.
