Pop culture fans have descended on the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub in Springwood for the inaugural Blue Mountains HubCon.
Brandishing her pop culture credentials as a Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek fan, Blue Mountains Councillor Romola Hollywood officially opened the expo at 10am.
Special guest Ben Sorensen praised the event's format for being "different to a lot of the larger cons".
"The special thing about HubCon is it's not star-driven or artist-driven, it's driven at the grassroots level by the community. I think that's one of the most amazing things about HubCon," he said.
Former Good Game television host Stephanie "Hex" Bendixsen hosted a cosplay parade with Sorensen on Saturday morning. The event featured superheros including Spiderman and Wolverine along with iconic characters from the 1986 fantasy movie, Labyrinth. Fresh from New York World Pride, Wonder Mama also made an appearance, with her creator sharing her backstory as Wonder Woman's aunt from Paradise Island, "here to represent love and equality".
