Anna Thomas-Williams and Dominic Della-Ricca took over as owner and chef of Katoomba Street Cafe six months ago.
Ms Thomas-Williams had worked for the previous owner for two years when he suggested she would be the perfect person to buy the business and run it as her own.
The "born and bred" Katoomba locals have risen to the challenge, making changes to the decor and menu and putting their own spin on an eatery that has been familiar to residents and visitors alike for many years.
Mr Della-Ricca described his menu as "modern Australian with an Asian influence".
The cosy atmosphere is enhanced by a gas fireplace and a decor that invites you to escape the winter chill and stay a while.
The Katoomba residents, both in their 20s, describe themselves as a "power couple" and are proud to be two of the youngest business owners in the Blue Mountains. "We are giving it a shot and invite the community to support us," Ms Thomas-Williams said.
The pair have plenty of plans for the future of the cafe, including obtaining a liquor licence so they can operate as a bar, and hosting Spanish tapas nights and regular social events.
- Katoomba Street Cafe is open seven days from 9.30am to 4pm at 175 Katoomba Street, Katoomba. Find them on Facebook and Instagram or phone 4782 7966.
