Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains (MAPBM) will hold its second members' exhibition at the Braemar Gallery in Springwood from August 8 to September 1.
The exhibition by the mainly Blue Mountains-based association of contemporary artists will be officially opened by Cr Mick Fell on Saturday, August 10.
The show will address the theme of "Mapping" and will be curated by MAPBM member Anthony Bond OAM, an independent curator/writer who was previously the director curatorial at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
"The exhibition Mapping at Braemar showcases 17 artists who are members of MAPBM. The works are diverse but share an interest in mapping the world around us and the idea of mapping as a way of engaging the world and our environment.
"These artists have also embraced ideas of the history and nature of our chosen home in the Mountains. Mapping is also a metaphor for paying attention to the socio-political ecology of our place," said Mr Bond.
The Mapping opening at Braemar will also celebrate the launch of MAPBM's new website, which will go live on the same day. "The website has been developed by Katoomba-based design studio Racket and provides a new visually appealing and accessible interface for our association," said MAPBM president Fiona Davies.
