Joe Fiedler is a fabulous New York jazz, avant-garde and Latin trombonist whose day job for the last 10 years has been as a musical director on Sesame Street.
This year, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the show, he recorded a stunning CD of his own interpretations of Sesame Street tunes, called Open Sesame.
Live at the Village and Blue Mountains Theatre are delighted to present Joe Fiedler in concert, performing people's most beloved Sesame Street tunes as you've never heard them before, live on stage in a special one-off concert event.
Accompanied by a world class jazz ensemble featuring Phillip Johnston (saxophone), Nic Cecire (drums), James Greening (pocket trumpet) and Lloyd Swanton (bass guitar), Fiedler will deliver irreverent jazz interpretations of some of the show's most iconic songs, including People In Your Neighbourhood, Rubber Duckie, Sing, Pinball Number Count, and Jazz Alphabet.
Joe Fiedler has collaborated with renowned artists in genres ranging from avant-garde to salsa to pop, and his out-of-the-box Joe Fiedler Trio and low-brass quartet Big Sackbut have brought him further acclaim. His other music credits include The Mingus Big Band, Anthony Braxton, Lee Konitz and Myra Melford, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz and Willie Colon. This is Fiedler's first visit to Australia.
