Leura Garage is challenging the village of Leura in the Blue Mountains to become the first village in Australia to transform all their restaurant food waste into resources.
Over 100 people attended a recent networking mingle which showcased Chloe the super composter to local hospitality, tourism and environmental businesses.
After seeing Chloe in action, support was high for a food waste initiative with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) representative saying that funding was available for local council to get behind village composting hubs for restaurants across the Mountains.
At the mingle were representatives from Closed Loop Organic Composters, Big Fix, UTS Sustainable Futures Institute, Low Carbon Living, WSI Tafe, Blue Mountains Hospitality School and the EPA.
