Family and friends of Mountains-raised Jane Bryant, who died last year at age 27 from an aggressive form of breast cancer, have honoured her memory at the City to Surf fun run.
The group of 35 Mountains-raised residents took part in the run to raise funds for breast cancer research through the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
The Jogging for Jane team, organised by friends Pippa Temperley and Grace Levey, was the seventh highest fundraiser in the teams category, raising more than $36,000.
Team member Zoe Cox from Blackheath, was friends with Jane since they attended year 7 at Blue Mountains Grammar together.
"Jane was a beam of light. She had so much care for everyone who come into her life. She had a beautiful life and a sense of humour and zest for life," Miss Cox said.
Jane was a registered nurse and battled the disease for more than two years. She married Cameron Bryant from Springwood in June 2017 and they had many precious experiences and adventures over the next year.
Miss Cox recalls regularly taking her friend horse riding, even up until two weeks before her death, where she hooked up the horse float and travelled into Centennial Park in Sydney to give Jane that experience.
Jane had also dedicated a lot of her time to assisting the Garvan Institute of Medical Research by giving interviews, helping with many fundraising events and taking part in research.
"It's so lovely to watch Jane's legacy live on. We're so appreciative of the generosity offered by everyone," Miss Cox said.
