Leura woman wins a trip to New York

A Leura woman has won a trip of a lifetime to New York, just for eating out in Rooty Hill's new dining precinct Eat St at West HQ.

Maria Woodgate was visiting her mum Mary in Mount Druitt, and had taken her out for dinner at West HQ, the rebranded Rooty Hill RSL.

When her name was called out at the venue on August 17, Ms Woodgate had four minutes to get to the stage.

"It didn't seem real. I went into auto pilot and ran up there. I had my sneakers on, luckily," she said.

Ms Woodgate was excited to win a $15,000 two-week trip to New York, and will take her sister Cathy from the Central Coast on the holiday in April next year.

While Ms Woodgate has been to New York before, she hasn't been overseas in eight years.

"It's hard to be able to afford that kind of thing these days. I've been wanting to get to the States for all that time," she said.

"It's a long-held dream coming true."

While they'll be spoilt for choice for activities in New York, Ms Woodgate says she'd like to go on a Mad Men tour and as well as a street art tour.

There are three more travel prizes and cash draws up for grabs at West HQ on August 31 (New Zealand), September 14 (Italy) and September 28 (China).
