A new community event bringing together local and national Oldtime and bluegrass musicians will be celebrated in an all-day festival on Saturday, October 19.

The festival will run between Plantbased Wholefoods café/restaurant 97 Katoomba St, and the beautiful church hall across the road, Junction 142.

There will be music at both venues from 10am, with an Oldtime dance late afternoon in the church hall, followed by an evening of music, eating and drinking at Plantbased Wholefoods.

The festival has about 18 acts coming from all parts, including some of the most prominent musicians from the Australian Oldtime music scene.

Cat and Clint are one of the highlights, bringing a real Australian style to Appalachian mountain music, and Whoa Mule are a progressive Oldtime group that break the boundaries of the tradition with complex melody and rhythm.

There will be some 20-minute spots between 11 and 1pm upstairs at the cafe, so get in early on Saturday morning at the cafe to get your name down.

The event is free.
