With a total of 10 delightful gardens to visit, a marvellous music program, art show and a wide range of goods available at the plant sales centre, this year's Leura Gardens Festival is not to be missed.
The the 55th festival will take place from 9.30am-4.30pm for six days over two long weekends:
- Saturday, October 5 to Monday, October 7
- Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13
This year visitors can see all 10 gardens for $30 per person, or $8 per individual garden. These beautiful cold-climate gardens offer a wide range of styles and sizes to provide food for thought and inspiration for all gardeners.
President, Brooke Broughton said that since its inception the festival has raised about $3 million to purchase equipment for the Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital and to assist other local health-related organisations.
The funds raised have resulted in the hospital being one of the best equipped for its size in the state. This year the festival will be providing funds for building works and equipment for the proposed outpatient therapy centre as well as artwork for the new renal dialysis unit.
In 2018 $6000 was donated to Greystanes Disability Services towards the modification of a wheelchair-accessible car to transport Greystanes' clients; $6000 was donated to the Blue Mountains Health Trust to fund a scholarship; $6000 was donated to Cancer Wellness Support to provide ongoing support and $6000 was donated to Can Assist Blue Mountains Branch to also provide ongoing support.
As well, $3550 was donated to the BaptistCare Morven Gardens Nursing Home in Leura to assist in the construction of a sensory garden for all residents and particularly those suffering from dementia; $3000 was donated to the Blue Mountains Hospital RSL Garden to assist in the restoration of the garden that honours over 140 veterans and $2000 was donated towards the restoration of the Rotary Centenary Garden also at the Hospital.
