A new series of Sunday art workshops for adults are being held at Penrith Regional Gallery, led by artist Anthony Cahill.
Explore and experiment with colour, composition and perspective as you learn the skills and techniques behind drawing and painting in a beautiful garden setting.
Join Cahill for a series of drawing and painting workshops inspired by the gallery's heritage garden. They will be held on Sundays November 3 and 17, and December 1 and 15 between 10am and 4pm.
Anthony Cahill is Sydney- and Blackheath-based artist whose practice moves easily between mediums, technically adept in everything from watercolour and oils to charcoal.
Cahill will guide participants through each art-making journey for a different look at drawing and painting, using different mediums and building skills from a variety of inspirations including the gallery's fabulous garden and one's own personal experiences.
Drawing materials will be required for some classes - graphite pencils, charcoal and coloured pencils - and painting materials for others. This can include a selection of acrylic or oil paints, a painting surface such as canvas or paper, and an apron if you wish to protect clothing.
The final week is artist's choice. Artists are more than welcome to bring in any other materials that may not be on the list - the gallery encourages all drawing and painting mediums, especially if you have a favourite.
We encourage all drawing and painting mediums, especially if you have a favourite.
Details on each session are: November 3 - Develop painting/s from sketches; November 17 - Finding a personal vision via the garden; December 1 - Painting a personal place, from your drawings; December 15 - Painting and/or drawing another view, to the river.
