The bubbles will be flowing on Friday night at Blackheath's community hall as the Rhodo Festival and Art Show are officially opened.
The art show - now in its 51st year - showcases a wide range of oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels and mixed media, from traditional to contemporary styles.
There is a separate drawing section and the exquisite miniatures, all the skills and beauty of large-scale paintings in a tiny format.
There is also a section for student art, giving a canvas to the stars of the future.
As well as awards in individual sections, there will be a $1,000 prize for best painting in the show (courtesy of the Hammon family of Scenic World) and a prize of $1,000 to best local artist, donated by the Rotary Clubs of Blackheath and Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise.
Enjoy entertainment from the Steve Jewell Trio plus fabulous finger food and drinks. All are welcome from 7pm on October 25. Entry is $25. The art show continues until Sunday, November 3, 10am-4pm daily, $2 entry.
This year's 67th Rhodo Festival celebrates its big day on Saturday, November 2, with music, stalls, rides and the ever-popular grand parade along Wentworth St from 11.30am.
The Rhodo Revue - Glumbooks - The Musical - is on from Friday, Nov 15 to Sunday, Nov 17, and the jazz weekend will lift the roof of the Ivanhoe hotel from November 22-24.
