Two Blue Mountains films have been nominated for Best Indie Film at the 2019 AACTA awards.
Acute Misfortune, about Wentworth Falls artist Adam Cullen, and Book Week will compete against three other films in the category.
Based on the non-fiction work by former Sydney Morning Herald journalist Erik Jensen, Acute Misfortune was filmed in the Blue Mountains in late 2017-early 2018.
Book Week, by Glenbrook film-maker Heath Davis, was also filmed in the Blue Mountains. The comedy centres on English teacher and would-be novelist Nicholas Cutler, who finally sees a possibility that his work will be published.
Davis posted on Facebook: "Lovely news to wake up and discover BOOK WEEK has been nominated for Best Indie Film at the AACTA Awards. This achievement is acknowledgment to all the amazing people who helped bring this baby to life. Now does anyone have a "modern suit" I can borrow. My year 12 formal suit is micro fibre green! Is that still trendy?"

Acute Misfortune won The Age Critics Prize for Best Australian Feature Film at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2018, and its score by Evelyn Ida Morris was the only feature film score to receive a 2018 ARIA nomination.
The Hollywood Reporter described it as "one of the year's most striking and accomplished directorial debuts" while in a five-star review for the Guardian, Luke Buckmaster said it was "the best and most interesting Australian biopic since Chopper in 2000".
The 2019 AACTA Awards will be presented in Sydney on December 4.
