When Lulu Bull went on her first yoga retreat she wanted to run. It was physical, intense and overwhelming. And it completely changed her life. She went away and turned five days of hell into a lifestyle and a business.
She discovered that yoga was not only a sequence of exercises to promote physical wellbeing. Yoga was creative and expressive. The Yoga mat was a place where she could be herself. It was a place of personal transformation and infinite possibility.
Ms Bull's journey into the practice of Iyengar Yoga as a student and a teacher is the theme of the sixth and final conversation in the Search for Meaning series with Blue Mountains residents.
The conversation on Sunday, November 24 at 2.30pm at the Katoomba Cultural Centre, will feature Ms Bull talking with Phil Voysey, Director of Cultural Connexions.
"Yoga is ultimately about building relationships and making connections," she said.
Yoga helped her get through a difficult marriage breakdown.
"The experience helped me to accept uncertainty as part of life. Not as a bad thing. I started to feel amazed and intrigued by life. There was possibility in the unknown. Yoga helped me to understand that."
