Iconic performer and songwriter Stephen Cummings took his bow to Australian audiences during his farewell tour at the start of 2019. Cummings was supposed to have retired after he finished touring his album, Prisoner of Love, but he grew bored of the down time.

The former lead singer of Melbourne-based rock band, The Sports, has now decided to perform a limited number of acoustic shows from February to May 2020.

A new album of self-penned country blues will follow at the end of 2020.

Cummings said: "You will see me at the height of my powers, taking you on a wonderful spiritual journey you'll never forget with my guitarist Sam Lemann."

"We've been fans of Stephen's for years. You never know what he's going to do - he's totally unpredictable on and off stage. That's what makes him so exciting to watch and listen to. He's a true original, and we love him to bits," said Vicka and Linda Bull.

"Alongside Nick Cave and Tim Rogers, I would nominate Stephen Cummings. He is easily one of our great storytellers, capable of creating lives in miniature." - SMH

"Apart from Paul Kelly, no other Australian solo artist has managed to sustain a recording and performing career at such a high level of artistry for as long as Stephen Cummings." - The Age

"Debonair, romantic and sensitive, Cummings owns a voice that allows vulnerable yearning qualities as much space as an authoritative voice of experience." - Rolling Stone
