Introspective and playful, multilingual singer-songwriter STAV. continues her story of migration with soaring melodies and bursts of rhythmic fire.
She was the 2018-19 Folk Alliance Australia 'Young Artist of the Year', performing nationally and internationally. She was born in Israel, grew up in a small town in Australia and is now based in Melbourne.
Blurring the lines between singing and spoken word in English, Hebrew and French, she is totally at home on stage. An expressive voice and a natural affinity for guitar, live performance brings this songwriter's introspection, playfulness and raw passion to life.
Since releasing her debut album The Horizon Line (2016), she has performed at the major folk festivals across Australia including Woodford, Port Fairy, Cygnet, Blue Mountains and The National. She has also played shows in Canada, Spain, Portugal, France and Israel.
"A sound that feels simultaneously familiar and fresh; a truly unique and captivating brand of folk music. Contemporary folk brilliance." - HappyMag
"One of the most original singer-songwriters I have heard recently... I'll be doing what we should all do when we hear or see great art... I'll be shouting her praise from the rooftops." - The Night Sky Is A Jewellery Store Window
STAV. is at Blackheath Bar & Bistro on Friday, November 22, from 7.30pm. Free.
