Medlow Bath residents and Rural Fire Service members' calls for a community noticeboard in the tiny village are finally being realised.
Blue Mountains Council will install a community noticeboard, but not until the 2020-21 financial year.
It follows a 2013 plan of management for Medlow Park, where a community noticeboard was identified as a priority, following community consultation.
The president of the Medlow Bath Residents Association, Deb Brown, thanked council for the intention to provide the noticeboard, and said the sooner it was installed the better.
"If they're able to find the funds this year that would be good, as it was mentioned in the 2013 plan of management," she said.
Members of the RFS brigade at Medlow Bath said a noticeboard would be useful for promoting the Get Ready fire season preparation days, training, meetings, recruitment and other community events.
The preferred location is between the Medlow Bath RFS station and Medlow Park in Railway Parade.
"We have a lot of older residents in Medlow Bath who aren't as familiar with social media ... at least information on a noticeboard is a lot more accessible," Ms Brown said.
At the November council meeting, ward 1 councillor Kerry Brown asked that council provide the noticeboard by 2020.
"The Medlow Bathers don't ask for much and don't get much," she said.
"It's not a big ask - they're not asking for a community hall or a pool, they're just asking for a noticeboard."
Ward 2 councillor Chris Van der Kley said he wouldn't be supporting the motion because it was introduced "as a stealth way of getting something." The motion passed, with Cr Darryl Bowling also voting against.
A council report anticipated it would cost $10,000 to provide and install the noticeboard, and funds would not be available until the 2020-21 budget.
