A teacher will appear in Katoomba Local Court on Monday following charges over alleged unlawful sexual activity with a student in the Blue Mountains.
Earlier this month, officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a local teacher had sexually touched a student on a number of occasions while at school.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 49-year-old man at a home at Katoomba about 4pm on November 8.
He was taken to Katoomba Police Station and charged with procure child for unlawful sexual activity, aggravated indecent assault - victim under authority of offender, and three counts of aggravated sexual touching of another person.
Police will allege in court that the man developed a relationship with a female student while he was working as a teacher at a Blue Mountains high school, during which he alleged indecently assaulted and sexually touched her on several occasions between 2015 and 2019.
He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on November 9, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Katoomba Local Court on November 18.
