A celebration will be held to thank everyone involved in the 'Leave Radiata Plateau Wild' campaign, which culminated last month in the NSW government's purchase of Radiata Plateau for incorporation into the national park.
"This is a landmark decision and major win for the environment but most of all it's a momentous win for the Blue Mountains community - for their commitment and determination to see an important and valued piece of Blue Mountains land recognised and given the protection it warrants," said Tara Cameron, president of Blue Mountains Conservation Society.
"We are thrilled by Minister [Matt] Kean's decision, but it was the unwavering resolve and steadfastness of so many in the community, those that truly cherish our astonishing natural landscape, that brought it to the minister's attention."
In October, Mr Kean said he received hundreds of letters from residents who enjoyed the network of tracks with options for birdwatching, bushwalking and climbing.
The 306-hectare property was purchased by the government for about $2.8 million and follows a 35-year campaign by the conservation society.
