"An amazing home grown talent that just has to go to the world..."
These were the words used by AGLOW International's Sue Peacock to describe Jane Kellaway's captivating workshop performance of The Mother's Club, a one-woman show about the rollercoaster ride of motherhood.
Set in the late 1980s/early 1990s, The Mother's Club explores the journey of dating, falling in love, getting married, falling pregnant and having children over a 25-year period.
"Just beautiful ... and we laughed and we cried ..." added Peacock, who was among 50 people who attended the workshop back in November 2018 and gave Kellaway a standing ovation.
Since then, Kellaway has hit the Love Hz Studio in Leichhardt, recorded the 17-song soundtrack to The Mother's Club show with none other than the multi-talented/multi-instrumentalist Michael Carpenter and has built herself a stunning set, all with the help of her hubby Fred - the brains of the operation.
"The Mother's Club came about because I didn't want Jane to be performing in pubs anymore and it was time to make a change," said Fred. "We have four kids and decided we could get a good return on our investment if we wrote about them. The Mother's Club was born."
Definitely no stranger to performing, Kellaway has been around the entertainment industry for more than 20 years both behind the mic as a radio and TV presenter as well as in front of it as a singer and event presenter. Her many years of performing on stage at the Sydney Opera House have left her in good stead as Kellaway pulls all her skills together in this amazing show.
"I was captivated as I sat through the musical, The Mother's Club," said cartoonist/illustrator/writer, Barry Prince. "A unique, magical personality unrolled a journey through motherhood.
Said Kellaway: "This show is all about sharing my story and giving people hope to know that you're not on your own."
