Springwood is looking a little more festive after school students on Thursday decorated the big tree in Manners Park.
About 70 kids from Springwood, Winmalee and Ellison Public Schools, and St Thomas Aquinas Primary, hung their colourful Christmas decorations on the big tree on Thursday, December 5.
The annual event, which has been running for more than 40 years, is organised by Springwood Neighbourhood Centre, with Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters from the Springwood station bringing ladders to help the kids hang their decorations up high.
"It's great to do something in the community to make everyone appreciate the festive season, even with the trauma of the fires," said Springwood station officer Kevin O'Reilly.
Imelda Eames from the Springwood Neighbourhood Centre, said it was divine to continue the tradition and still have the firefighters involved, when they were flat out attending fires.
