Mt Wilson's new artist-in-residence program has inspired a new exhibition at Rex-Livingston Art + Objects in Katoomba.
Leisl Mott's The Mount Wilson Residency 2019 showcases the works she created during her time at the old school house in Mt Wilson which has been converted by locals to an artist's studio with adjoining accommodation.
The program offers a range of artists free accommodation for periods of up to a month. Several artists have already enjoyed staying at the old cottage and finding inspiration from the scenic surrounds.
Mt Wilson's Judy Tribe, part of the organising committee for the program, said during her stay Mott helped interested artists or would-be artists in some en plein air sessions.
Mott's landscape painting is about recording snapshots of time, mood and place.
Her recent work is focused on change, particularly the way the weather, seasons, time of day and changing light affect the way we see the landscape, even life.
Mott, who is now based in Queensland, grew up in the Hawkesbury and knew Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine well.
The Mount Wilson Residency 2019 is at Rex-Livingston 182-84 Katoomba St, Katoomba, from December 14 to January 13.
Join us for drinks with the artist and celebrate this exhibition of works at the official opening on Saturday, December 14, 2-4pm (upstairs gallery).
