Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill has thanked UK Councillor Pauline Dee of Shropshire Council for her visit to the Blue Mountains.
Accompanied by her son, Katoomba resident and former NSW Australian of the Year, Jon Dee, Cr Dee attended the January 28 Blue Mountains council meeting and visited Katoomba/Leura Rural Fire Service Brigade.
"Councillor Dee made a wonderful presentation to a local RFS brigade last weekend. She is part of the Shropshire Fire Authority in England," said the mayor.
"We had a great morning at Katoomba/Leura Brigade on January 25, receiving a plaque from Cr Dee that came from her local fire authority. This is a link between a fire service in England and our Blue Mountains."
Cr Dee and Jon Dee met the mayor in his office before attending the first council meeting of 2020.
"Cr Dee was there to witness two mayoral minutes, one thanking our emergency services for their incredible efforts during the recent fires and another that saw the incident management team that ran the strategy for our fires nominated as Freemen of the City," said the mayor.
"I want to thank Cr Dee for expressing solidarity with our community and for cementing the bonds of friendship from opposite ends of the the world."
