After a summer that saw their employment decimated by the bushfires, Blue Mountains adventure guides are volunteering their skills to help the bush recover from those fires.
Adventure Aid is a weekend where every dollar spent on canyoning, rock climbing, abseiling and mountain biking adventures will go towards projects that ensure the burnt areas of the Blue Mountains eventually bounce back to their former glory.
Dan Lewis from Adventure Aid said: "We want people to come adventuring with us so we can help organisations that can work with National Parks and Blue Mountains Council on what ever must be done to make it safe and environmentally responsible to once again enjoy all the canyons, cliffs, campsites and tracks we treasure. We are talking here about groups like the NSW Canyoning Association, which already helps National Parks care for the canyons that the Blue Mountains are world-famous for with its Canyon Care program."
On the weekend of February 29-March 1, the Australian School of Mountaineering and High 'N' Wild are offering abseiling and Empress Falls Canyon adventures, Mountains Youth Services Team is hosting a mountain bike ride, Blue Mountains Climbing School is running a two-day rock climbing trip, Eagle Rock Adventures is running a photography course in Grand Canyon while Blue Mountains Adventure Company is going to take people to do Grand Canyon at night to see its amazing glow worm display.
