A Harrington Park man was found with a rifle, ammunition and drug paraphernalia in his car at Lawson on Monday night.
About 8.25pm on Monday, February 10, a Blue Mountains Police officer spoke to the driver of a blue sedan stopped on the Great Western Highway near Orient Street, Lawson.
Police searched the vehicle and seized a .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, a loaded magazine, a rifle bolt, cash and drug paraphernalia, police said.
The driver, a 42-year-old Harrington Park man, was arrested and taken to Springwood Police Station. He was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing ammunition without holding a licence/permit, not keeping a firearm safe, acquiring a firearm without a permit, and possessing a prohibited drug.
The man will appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday, March 5.
