The flora and fauna of the Blue Mountains will be on display in all in a whole new way at a special art exhibition in Springwood.
The work of 12 botanical artists will be displayed at Braemar Gallery in a collection of drawings and watercolour, graphite and stipple items by the group which meets in Lawson each month to explore a love of plants and art.
The works are the result of many hours of painstaking work by former or current school teachers, university researchers, social workers and others, many of whom who had never painted before but just love plants and the Mountains.
Their tutor, Barbara Duckworth, started painting at age three, progressing from there to art school in Toronto, Canada, then to scientific illustration work at the Australian Museum and Macquarie University and on to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney and now the Royal Art Society of NSW.
The exhibition will run from February 20-March 15 at Braemar Gallery. Works will be for sale. To learn more about botanical art, call Barbara on 0491 644 450.
