The digital world has claimed another victim, with Leura's newsagency about to close.
Owners Bill and Chris Taylor have their retirement plans settled, with a house in Kiama awaiting them. Their last day of trading will be March 29.
The couple have spent a lifetime in the Mountains, both going to school at Katoomba High. Mr Taylor's family association goes back nearly a century, to 1925, when his grandfather started the garage at Hazelbrook.
Mr Taylor started his own accounting practice in the Upper Mountains in 1984 and ran it for more than two decades before selling; Mrs Taylor worked as a teacher. They also operated the Wentworth Falls newsagency for four years.
They bought the Leura business in 2007 and it flourished. Every Saturday, they would sell 1,200 newspapers. These days, it's about 200.
Like newspapers themselves, the market is just shrinking.
"There's also so much competition these days. Everyone does what we do - cards, stationery, all that," Mr Taylor said.
The business has been on the market for six years. At one stage the Taylors thought they had a buyer but the deal fell through.
So now they are just closing the doors. Belle Property will move into the building.
They have tried to find another local business to take over the Lotto licence, which is profitable, but no-one was interested.
The Taylors will have a big sale of all stock, starting on Monday, March 2.
Then it's down the coast, to enjoy swimming in the ocean and playing a bit of sport.
