A Labor councillor has claimed that the Greens party has disendorsed its sitting Ward 1 councillor, Kerry Brown.
Cr Darryl Bowling issued a press release last week, saying that Cr Brown had been ousted at a Greens pre-selection meeting earlier this month.
The pre-selection was held to determine candidates for the September local council elections.
The Gazette sought comment from Cr Brown (pictured) but she declined.
The pre-selection results were not publicised after the meeting.
Greens Blue Mountains convenor, Nick Cowlishaw, told the Gazette at the time: "All I can say is that Greens NSW internal procedures preclude the release of the results... Proper process is being followed."
Mr Cowlishaw suggested he may be able to announce the results early next month.
However, Cr Bowling issued his press release on Friday.
He cited unnamed Liberal Party sources as saying that Cr Brown had been disendorsed by a vote of 24 to four.
His release continued: "The understanding is Brown is now desperately searching for another platform to represent on a new council.
"Councillor Brown claims to be all about transparency - I call on her to be transparent and clarify her position."
Cr Bowling speculated she may stand as an independent endorsed by the Katoomba Chamber of Commerce and Community.
But the chamber's president, Mark Jarvis, said Cr Brown had not approached the chamber.
"There has been no talk of the chamber endorsing her."
