Many residents of the BM are concerned about the impacts of the bushfires on our natural environment and National Park and residents want to feel that they are contributing in a meaningful way.
So a mini-expo will be held in Blackheath on Saturday (February 29) to show residents how they can help regenerate the environment.
Organised by the Wellbeing Sub-committee for the Recovery, along with Blue ARC and the Resilience and Preparedness group, the expo hopes to assist local wildlife and bushcare groups and organisations to educate the public, and (if relevant) recruit volunteers.
The expo, at the Blackheath community hall from 1.30-3.30pm, will include several speakers: for wildlife, focusing on residents' own backyards; and about local bushcare programs.
Then the program moves to briefly explaining what all of the local groups/organisations at the expo offer (information and/or volunteering opportunities), let everyone go to their preferred organisations and then serve afternoon tea.
Following the expo, Alice McGlashan will run a nesting box design, construction and installation workshop at Blackheath Community Farm from 4.30pm. Further information email jennybigelow@yahoo.com.au.
