Former Winmalee resident Liz Shreeve returns to the Blue Mountains this month with her survey show, Light and Colour, at Springwood's Braemar Gallery.
Shreeve's work is difficult to describe; it is interactive with the movement of the viewer and the light in the room. Simple repetitive geometric shapes in paper or wood are arranged and coloured to catch ambient light and make it visible as a cloud of colour or a luminous aura.
Shreeve said: "The quietness of my practice is a response to the visual overload of contemporary urban life; maybe I'm trying to get back to the peace of the Blue Mountains.
"There are only a few visual elements in the works so the eye slows and notices more."
These meditative works are on show from March 19 until Easter Sunday, April 12.
Shreeve will be exhibiting with fellow artist Kaylene Brooks.
All are welcome to the launch to be opened by Cr Mick Fell on Saturday 21 March, from 2-4pm. The gallery is at 104 Macquarie Rd, Springwood. Open Thursday-Sunday 10am-4pm.
