Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre has expanded crisis support programs to help people facing unemployment due to the coronavirus crisis.
"To assist community through this time we have our Support with Dignity suite of programs that can take the pressure off community members experiencing financial hardship resulting from this unexpected crisis," said centre manager, Morna Colbran.
"Although we have had to alter how we deliver our programs we still provide a non-judgmental, and confidential service that maintains the dignity of the individuals we assist."
Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre can help with: electricity, water or gas bills, free fresh food and bread five days a week, food packs (delivery can be arranged depending on circumstances), food vouchers, Work Development Orders, frozen meal program, prescription vouchers, Community Cupboard (food subsidised program), wood vouchers, water cartage, and support to help with finances with a budgeting consultant. The centre has a partnership with Bligh Park Community Service, ensuring these services are available in the Hawkesbury if this is easier for people to access.

"If we cannot help, we can provide advocacy, information and referrals to other services who can," said Ms Colbran. "We understand that unemployment can have far reaching effects that go beyond the immediate economic impact."
