Penrith specialist Dr Kevin Boundy is using evidenced-based medicine to help people recover from knee injuries faster and avoid the pain of osteoarthritis.

A sports physician, Dr Boundy specialises in the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.

For many years he has pioneered treatments for injured joints.

Two meta-analyses, published in 2019 and 2020, in which quality research from around the world is analysed and the outcomes independently reviewed, has confirmed these treatments as an effective alternative in the management of knee pain.

Dr Boundy has studied for and been awarded board certification in regenerative medicine.

"Helping the body perform at its best has always been a passion of mine, so studying in detail the latest research into how the body heals and how we can help it heal was fascinating," he said.

Dr Boundy uses prolotherapy to relieve knee pain and treat soft tissue injuries.

This can significantly reduce the pain of osteoarthritis giving patients an alternative to having surgery.

The new research shows it is as effective as other injection treatments.

Dr Boundy also makes Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), using a method learnt from Regenexx in Colorado.

The PRP, known as Regenexx Super Concentrated Plasma (SCP). Dr Boundy is the only doctor in Australia to be licensed to make Regenexx SCP.
